Securing High Performance Computing (HPC) Infrastructure.
Historically, HPC and Big Data platforms (Hadoop) have been managed and operated in isolation. The researchers have to access the environment using a separate set of credentials. With HPC going mainstream and integrating with the enterprise environment, there is a need to delve into securing the HPC infrastructure to comply with audit and compliance requirements.
SECURING ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE INFRASTRUCTURE
To discuss the topic of AI infra security, first, let’s understand what constitutes Artificial Intelligence (AI) Infrastructure. There are multiple views on AI infrastructure. To some, it is the same as HPC infra, but to others, it could be very different. This can be seen at multiple levels.
CLOUD HPC
In the last decade, High Performance Computing (HPC) has gone mainstream and is being used by many enterprises to solve complex data-driven challenges. Traditionally, research organisations have been building and maintaining on-premise HPC infrastructure to handle these workloads. But the ask for more flexibility and scalability or to ramp up of resources on-demand has given a push to the adoption of HPC in the cloud or Cloud HPC or HPCaaS.
CRUCIAL ROLE OF SYSTEM INTEGRATION
Advanced and emerging technologies are often complex and difficult to configure and require special care to implement. Lack of familiarity can quickly escalate into delays and cost overruns, devastating budgets and project deadlines. This becomes very crucial for HPC/AI systems because of the inherent complexity of
these systems.
